Not Average

startYou can say a lot of things about me, but you can’t say I live an average life.

You don’t have to live one either.

There’s this guy called Jon Acuff who wrote a few books. Two you should read are called Quitter and Start. Both deal with how you can quit your average life and start living a fulfilled life. And they are not just big concept ideas, but real, practical concepts for making that happen. I’m involved in something now called the #StartEXP.

A little over a year ago, after Quitter came out, but before Start, I quit my job to pursue my dream. My passion. My calling. You can read all about that if you want.

Since then it’s been quite an adventure. Not everything has panned out like I’d hoped. My bank account is smaller than I imagined. My freelance workload is lighter. But God has seen us through every day. And as we talk about where we are, and where we are going, we always come back to the knowledge that we are doing what God has called us to do.

The average person doesn’t leave his good paying, but 60-hr-per-week job to try something new. The average person doesn’t strip most of the extras out of the budget in order to do work you love.

The average person doesn’t produce an independent religious sitcom that can be seen around the world. The average person doesn’t create content that could change someone’s life.

The average person doesn’t take classes to get better at his passion and calling. The average person doesn’t consume books and videos about how to do his craft better, how to create content for almost no money that is still engaging and effective.

The average person waits for permission to follow their dream, calling, passion.

The average person dreams but doesn’t do. He lets fear and uncertainty rule.

Don’t be average. What are you waiting for? Start today.

New Theme

Trying out a new theme, and new color. This one’s not very nice to small images or posts without images… Not sure if I will keep it. But needed to change up the last one.

New Movie Project?

I’ve been taking a script writing class, and reading about writing scripts. And a movie idea has been taking shape.

movie board

Above is a screen shot of an iBrainstorm file of the outline of the script. 39 scenes. (Yes, I know it’s blurry. I trust you, but not the rest of people who read this. Not that anyone would steal my idea, really. I just don’t want to give away the ending.)

The movie’s working title is Flawed. The underlying truth is that churches are made of imperfect people trying to do the perfect will of God.

Will it get made? I don’t know, but I plan to finish the script.

I Need Your Help

help imageI posted a way that you can help me with my show.

Here’s part of that post:

Peculiar doesn’t ask for money. In fact, pretty much the only way we will see any money for the show is if people buy the DVD. Peculiar is a relatively unknown show with unknown actors and an unknown director. A lot of people don’t even know it exists. People you know don’t know it exists.

That’s how you can help. You can tell them about it.

I will make it super easy for you. Below are some sample posts you can use on twitter, Facebook and send out via email. You can write your own, or just copy and paste these. Send them out to your friends, family and acquaintances.

Why am I asking this? Simple, if we sell enough DVDs, we can make more shows like Peculiar. You can help make sure that happens.
